
Ludhiana, 15th July 2025 – A crucial meeting was convened by Mr. Swapan Sharma,
I.P.S., Hon’ble Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, at the Commissionerate Office today,
bringing together representatives from prominent schools across Ludhiana. The agenda
centered around structured guidelines under the Safe School Vahan Scheme and
collaborative efforts to address ongoing traffic challenges outside school premises,
particularly during peak hours.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Traffic Wing of Ludhiana
Commissionerate, including Mr. Parminder Singh Bhandal, P.P.S., DCP (Law and Order
cum Traffic), Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Purewal, P.P.S., ADCP, Traffic, Mr. Jatin Bansal,
P.P.S., ACP, Traffic-1, Ludhiana and Mr. Gurpreet Singh, P.P.S., ACP, Traffic-2, Ludhiana
Key Outcomes of the Meeting:
In an effort to tackle traffic congestion during school opening and closing hours, school
authorities were given clear instructions to deploy 10 Traffic Marshals / Volunteers to assist with traffic management. These marshals will be hired by the schools and will operate in coordination with the Traffic/PCR officials deployed by Ludhiana Police.
Other significant guidelines included:
No Unauthorized Parking: Schools must ensure that no unauthorized parking takes
place near their premises.
Adherence to Traffic Rules: Strict enforcement of traffic rules is mandatory, not
only for school management but also for the parents and guardians of students.
Safety Protocols: Schools were reminded to follow the guidelines set under the Safe
School Vahan Scheme to ensure the safety of students and minimize potential accidents near school zones.

The Ludhiana Police Commissionerate reiterated its unwavering commitment to improving
road safety, especially for school-going children, and creating a more disciplined traffic
environment throughout the city. The authorities expressed confidence that the collaborative
efforts between law enforcement and the school community will lead to a significant
reduction in traffic chaos and enhanced safety for all road users.
